Smeg
The Smeg company name derives from the Guastallia region of Italy.
The name
Smeg is short for ’Smalterie Metallurgiche, Emiliane, Guastallia’ which is a large metal enamelling factory in Emilia, Italy.
Smeg has built itself a good name for high build quality by using good quality components and having a system of rigorous testing at every single point of production.
It takes up to (and more often over) two years of research, development and testing before Smeg releases any new product onto the market, and every single appliance is tested at the factory for over 15 years of use.
